Rootbrain release new dark melodic lyric video for "Mothertomb" EP title track
Wanted to share this morning that Finnish-German band Rootbrain have released their intricate yet earthy new hard rock lyric video for "Mothertomb", a somber and captivating brooder turned stomper that pulls you in with philosophical, excellent lyrics and committed performances. I was intrigued by the group's energy and the sort of Alice In Chains meets The Old Dead Tree splendor of the performance.
Vocalist Jules Naveri describes the deeply personal nature of the song: "When I was writing the lyrics for the ‘Mothertomb’ song, I needed a safe place for my thoughts. I felt I needed to get something out from my system which had been occupying my thoughts for a longer period of time. I don't want to reveal too much about the lyrics because I hope people can interpret them freely. The song was born in late-night escape sessions between Helle and Thomas. I started writing the lyrics when I heard the first demo version of the song much later on."
Check out the full EP of the same name, which also includes a cool and unexpected Garbage cover of "#1 Crush" that sounds like it could be an outtake from Metallica's Reload era right here.
